Pantone Colors Spring & Summer 2017
So we are 4 months into 2017, and weddings are in effect....especially now that the warm weather is here!
With the start of a new year, fashion magazines everywhere post of the current year's hottest Pantone colors that will be trending for each season. I'm sure there are plenty of brides that are in the know already, but for those who aren't I decided I would do a blog and break down 2017's trending colors are.
“Reminiscent of the hues that surround us in nature, our Spring 2017 Fashion Color Report evokes a spectrum of emotion and feeling," said Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute. “From the warmth of sunny days (PANTONE 13-0755 Primrose Yellow) to the invigorating feeling of breathing fresh mountain air (PANTONE 18-0107 Kale) and the desire to escape to pristine waters (PANTONE 14-4620 Island Paradise), designers applied color in playful yet thoughtful and precise combinations to fully capture the promises, hope and transformation that we yearn for each spring."
We couldn't agree more!
Without further ado.....here they are:
NIAGARA:
“Comfortable and dependable, Niagara leads the PANTONE Fashion Color Report as the most prevalent color for spring 2017. Niagara is a classic denim-like blue that speaks to our desire for ease and relaxation.”
Statistically, blue is one of the most popular wedding colors that brides and grooms choose.....so it comes as no surprise that Niagara made the cut! This softer blue gives an elegant feel and pairs perfectly with a beautiful blush color, or a crisp white.
PRIMROSE YELLOW:
“By contrast, Primrose Yellow sparkles with heat and vitality. Inviting us into its instant warmth, this joyful yellow shade takes us to a destination marked by enthusiasm, good cheer and sunny days."
It's hard not to feel like smiling with Primrose Yellow! Mix this vibrant color with a soft peach, or a charcoal gray....or create a contrast by adding royal blue to really make that yellow pop.
LAPIS BLUE:
“Conveying even more energy is Lapis Blue. Strong and confident, this intense blue shade imbued with an inner radiance."
We are back to another shade of blue! The intensity of this particular blue would be paired beautifully with jewel tones such as rich red, a bright coral, or even an emerald.
FLAME:
“A red-based orange, Flame, is gregarious and fun loving. Flamboyant and vivacious, this wonderfully theatrical shade adds fiery heat to the Spring 2017 palette."
With a color this "flamboyant," a little certainly goes a long way! Use it as your "pop" of color against neutrals such as a tan, or pair it with greenery.
ISLAND PARADISE:
“Island Paradise is a refreshing aqua that calls to mind a change of scenery. A cool blue green shade that speaks to our dream of the great escape, Island Paradise is emblematic of tropical settings and our desire to unwind."
Take us to those clear waters with the fresh ocean breeze! This color pairs beautifully with soft pinks, bold pinks(such as Pink Yarrow), corals, golds, or even a crisp white.
PALE DOGWOOD:
“Continuing the tranquil mood, Pale Dogwood is a quiet and peaceful pink shade that engenders an aura of innocence and purity. The unobtrusive Pale Dogwood is a subtle pink whose soft touch infuses a healthy glow."
In the Victorian era, a bachelor would present a woman of his affection with a sprig of dogwood in the hopes that she would reveal her mutual crush by keeping the gift. (A returned blossom indicated she was not interested.) This soft shade exudes romance and would be perfect for a vintage inspired wedding. Pair it with golds, greenery (including Kale), or white.
GREENERY:
“Bringing forth a refreshing take, Greenery is a tangy yellow-green that speaks to our need to explore, experiment and reinvent. Illustrative of flourishing foliage, the fertile attributes of Greenery signals one to take a deep breath, oxygenate and reinvigorate."
You probably have seen this pantone color sprouting (excuse the pun!) in weddings all over! Paired with any color, this pantone is sure to give a clean refreshing look.
PINK YARROW:
“Tropical and festive, Pink Yarrow is a whimsical, un-ignorable hue that tempts and tantalizes. Bold, attention getting and tempestuous, the lively Pink Yarrow is a captivating and stimulating color that lifts spirits and gets the adrenaline going."
This is another color that makes us yearn to be outside and surrounded by gorgeous tropical flowers.....which makes it perfect for outdoor weddings. For those who are pink obsessed, pair this quintessential pink with softer hues of pink. It also looks great with sage green, orange, a shimmery gold or copper. If you want a more sophisticated look, try pairing it with a darker shade of blue.
KALE:
“Evocative of the great outdoors and a healthy lifestyle, Kale is another foliage-based green that conjures up our desire to connect to nature, similar to the more vivacious Greenery. And, just as we see in nature, this lush and fertile natural green shade provides the perfect complementary background to the more vibrant tones in the palette."
The lush, natural ,army shade green shade sets the tone for more earthy and muted weddings. Chic on its own, it’s also the perfect complementary shade for more romantic or vibrant tones as well (see Pale Dogwood). Try pairing it with purples, golds, pinks(see Pink Yarrow).
HAZELNUT:
“Rounding out the Spring 2017 colors, is Hazelnut, a key neutral for spring. This shade brings to mind a natural earthiness. Unpretentious and with an inherent warmth, Hazelnut is a transitional color that effortlessly connects the seasons."
Hazelnut is a great neutral for weddings this year. With a hint of blush it gives an effortless romantic feeling. This color is perfect for a rustic wedding. Pair with soft pinks (Pale Dogwood) or shimmering gold.
As you can see, the color combinations are endless! Without a doubt, we know that with these trending pantone colors, you are sure to find the perfect combination to suit your style for your big day.
